El Pecado was formed in 1994 by Miguel “El Pecador” Zavala “Coles” along with Trevor Murray on guitar and Jason Bryant on drums. Shortly after in 1995 they recruited Tony Lamantia on bass. In August of 1995 Jason left to focus on his other band Team Aids and was replaced by Eric Pind as their new drummer. In 1997 they recruited Brian Clover as a second guitarist and remained a 5 piece until they officially broke up in 1998.
El Pecado was created by me (Mike) in order to express my deep hatred for religion, but more specifically the Catholic Religion I was brought up in while growing up in Mexico City. Although the lyrics expressed are, and were, my own personal beliefs, in 1997 I experienced a supernatural experience with God that made me change my mind on God and in my beliefs. With time I learned that following Jesus Christ was freedom from religion and everything that I thought I knew about Christianity when my soul was filled with hate was wrong. With my new personal beliefs, I decided to change the lyrics to several of the songs when we re-recorded all the songs for what was supposed to be our debut album on WildRags Records and which was also going to be El Pecado’s final release. So if you understand Spanish, please do not take my lyrics to heart or mind. That is not me anymore!! But Right before that happened, unfortunately for many, Richard C. went to prison for tax evasion, leaving El Pecado to remain underground forever, until now….
In this special CD reissue, we have both of El Pecado’s 1994 and 1995 demos , and as mentioned above, what was supposed to be our final release with 2 newer songs that we wrote as a 5 piece that were not on the older demos that were written in 1997. Thank you to Paul Sanchez and Doomsdays Today Records for the support after all these years!!! Gracias hermano!! Y pa toda la raza, gracias por el apoyo!!
If you would like to contact me on why I changed, or would like to know more about what it means to follow Christ, please do not hesitate in contacting me!!! Also, if you would like to check out my underground web-zine (The Outcast) where I ask deep and personal questions with the bands interviewed, go to –
